ED questions Dhawan in illegal betting app case
New Delhi, Sept. 5 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday recorded the statement of former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan in connection with its larger money laundering probe against several illegal online betting platforms, which use multiple platforms for surrogate advertisements and collect funds from the users, officials said.
Former India player reached the ED headquarters around 11am and was questioned by officials handling the illegal betting case. Officials said his statement were recorded under the prevention of money laundering act (PMLA) for endorsing a sports betting app, which indulged in illegal practices. Last month, ED had questioned another cricketer Suresh Raina in the probe.
