Early Italian elections? Meloni considering polls months before term end over popularity dip fears: Report
India, June 23 -- Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is considering the option of announcing the nation's next general election as early as April, several months before the current parliament's term ends in late 2027, a new report said.
Meloni is concerned that delaying the vote could weaken her popularity, Bloomberg News reported citing people familiar with the discussions.
She is also reportedly concerned that an election held later in the year could leave the next government with limited time to prepare and secure approval for a new budget before the year-end deadline.
This is a developing story. More details will be added soon.
