Delhi to get 1,000 MT subsidised onions from Centre; to be sold at rRs.r35/kg
New Delhi, Sept. 2 -- The Centre will provide 1,000 metric tonnes of onions to Delhi, which will be sold to consumers at Rs.35 per kg through fair price shops and mobile vans across the capital, chief minister Rekha Gupta said on Tuesday.
The move comes amid concerns over skyrocketing onion prices and availability in Delhi. The Delhi government said the subsidised stock will help maintain adequate supplies and ensure that the essential kitchen staple remains affordable for consumers.
