New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- Delhi benefited from heavy rainfall this August due to a favourable weather system, even as the surrounding regions experienced a deficit, according to experts. The Capital recorded 354.1 mm of rainfall between August 1 and August 30 (until 5:30pm). This is over 100 mm higher than the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) long-period average of 233.1 mm for this period. The city last saw excess August rainfall in 2025 and 2024, when it recorded 400.81mm and 390.3mm rainfall, respectively - crossing the LPA for the first time since 2020, when rainfall was 237 mm.
