Delhi HC dismisses plea seeking inquiry into differing accounts on use of force during CJP march
India, Sept. 17 -- New Delhi
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking a fact-finding inquiry into conflicting accounts-provided by the police and media outlets-over the alleged use of lathis by Delhi Police against student protesters during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led march towards the Parliament on July 20.
A bench of chief justice DK Upadhyaya and justice Tejas Karia held that the jurisdiction of a public interest litigation (PIL) is not intended to adjudicate disputes arising from conflicting versions of events and the petition did not involve public interest.
