NEW DELHI, March 26 -- A Delhi court has directed the police to expedite its investigation into an extortion case against former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan, citing prolonged delays and a pending final report. Additional chief judicial magistrate Paras Dalal observed that the case, registered in 2023, has remained under investigation for an extended period, with key forensic results still awaited. The court noted that voice samples of the accused and the complainant had been sent to the central forensic lab last year, but no report has been filed. The court has asked the case officer to submit a status report by April 7.
