India, April 4 -- The special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has refused to discharge the female gangster Habiba Hussain Khan also known as Didi. The court has also rejected her plea to drop charges against her in a Rs.50 lakh extortion case linked to the Chhota Rajan gang.
Special judge NR Pradhan held that "there is sufficient ground for proceeding against the accused" and emphasised that "the law does not permit a mini trial at the stage of discharge". Rejecting her plea to drop the MCOCA charges and transfer the case to a regular court, the judge further held that there is "sufficient material which attract provisions of MCOC Act against the accused".
