NAGPUR, Sept. 2 -- More than 30 tribal students in a residential school in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district fell ill after eating a meal contaminated by a lizard, officials said on Tuesday. Chandrapur district information officer Rajesh Ensarkar said the incident happened at the Amru Naik Secondary Ashram School in Nagarala in Chandrapur's Jiwati tehsil, when school staffers were preparing the lunch meal and a lizard dropped into the cooking pot. Ensarkar said students were taken a sub-district hospital after their condition deteriorated and are currently under treatment.
