GUWAHATI, Sept. 15 -- The Congress high command on Monday named party MLA, Sibamoni Bora, as its candidate for the Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll in Assam slated for October 6. The announcement was made by a release issued by party general secretary KC Venugopal. Bora, 63, is a former MLA from the Batadraba seat in Nagaon district. "The Congress president Shri Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the candidature of Smt, Sibamoni Bora, as party candidate for the ensuing by-election to the Lok Sabha from Nagaon parliamentary constituency of Assam," it read. The BJP has already named former IAS officer, Devaish Sharma, who took voluntary retirement as deputy commissioner of Nagaon earlier this month, as its candidate.htc
