Colaba school lacks basic items, infra, CJP visit shows
India, Aug. 20 -- The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Colaba Market School has no CCTV cameras or sanitary pads for female students, volunteers from the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) found on Wednesday during the outfit's first programme in the city under the nationwide 'School Thik Karo' campaign.
The school, which has 1,294 students in classes 1-8, also grapples with a shortage of teachers, computers and other learning facilities. Fire extinguishers and first-aid facilities in the school are inadequate, while textbooks, notebooks, scholarships and other financial assistance for eligible students are not always readily available, as per the 24-point report card prepared by CJP volunteers following their visit.
