Clear garbage across Chandigarh by September: High court to MC
Chandigarh, Aug. 14 -- Giving a fresh deadline, the Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday has asked the municipal corporation (MC) to clear garbage lying at the Dadumajra dumping site and at various locations across the city by September end.
The division bench of acting chief justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and justice Rohit Kapoor told the MC to provide a timeline for the proposed Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) waste processing plant.
The MC's counsel submitted that substantial garbage had been cleared from the site, trees had been planted and the corporation proposed to cover around 33% of the 45-acre landfill area with plantation. The work on the proposed IOCL plant was progressing, while other plants were operational.
