India, Aug. 14 -- A girl studying in class 8 died on Friday after being run over by a DTC bus in East Delhi's New Ashok Nagar area.

According to the police officials cited in a report by news agency PTI, the victim was riding a scooter with her uncle to her school when a bus hit them at around 8am on Friday morning.

The officials cited above informed that the girl's body was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in Kalyanpuri for medico-legal proceedings.

The cops also apprehended the DTC bus driver, identified as 45-year-old S K Murad. The driver had fled the scene after the accident.
