Chaos in Haryana assembly as Congress MLAs allege manhandling
India, Aug. 27 -- The opening sitting of the Haryana assembly's monsoon session descended into chaos on Thursday as the principal opposition party, the Congress, forced Speaker Harvinder Kalyan to adjourn proceedings twice amid allegations that security personnel manhandled and humiliated its legislators at the Vidhan Sabha's entrance.
The day began with a visible display of political theatre. Led by Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, party legislators assembled at a roundabout 200 metres from the complex and marched to the House attired in black to protest the Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP government.
