Chandigarh, Sept. 12 -- Friday's draw of lots created a stir in the city's political circles, with some leaders elated at the prospect of contesting from the same ward again, while others were left disappointed after the reservation category of the wards they had previously won from was changed.

Two-time Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor Maheshinder Singh Sidhu, who represents Ward 2 (Sectors 1 to 10), and had earlier represented the same area as Ward 1 before delimitation, will no longer be able to contest from his current ward, which has now been reserved for women (general).
