India, Sept. 26 -- The Centre on Friday appointed senior IAS officer Mandeep K Bhandari as chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), making him the third officer to head the board in less than four months following the controversy over its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.

An order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved Bhandari's appointment as CBSE chairperson in the rank and pay of additional secretary to the Government of India by temporarily upgrading the post.

Bhandari, a 2001-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, was serving as principal secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He also held additional charge as c...
