India, June 17 -- Every June, millions of Indian students close their board exam answer sheets and open one of the most consequential conversations of their lives - about what to study next. Almost without exception, that conversation takes the same shape: engineering or medicine, IIT or NIT, which branch, which rank. Everything outside that frame is treated as a consolation.
