New Delhi, Oct. 1 -- The Union Cabinet approved the Green Energy Corridor Phase-III (GEC-III) scheme on Wednesday, a programme aimed at reinforcing India's Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS) so that it can evacuate up to 135 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy across states and Union territories. The total project outlay is Rs.1,86,405 crore, targeted for completion by FY 2032-33. Of this, Rs.1,36,378 crore is earmarked for InSTS development and Rs.50,000 crore for the 50 GWh of BESS. The Centre will contribute Rs.54,082 crore.
