Brent oil price crosses $100: Why Middle East conflict is driving crude prices higher
India, Sept. 9 -- Brent crude oil futures crossed $100 a barrel on Wednesday, reaching their highest level in more than six weeks. The price touched $100.19 a barrel during trading. This was the first time Brent went above the important $100 level since July 24. Brent was at $99.93 a barrel, up $2.01, or 2.05%.
US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also rose, gaining $1.49, or 1.60%, to $94.52 a barrel. Reuters reported the rise, linking it to growing fears that the worsening Middle East conflict could disrupt oil supplies.
