India, April 1 -- In a boost for the Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and senior advocate HS Phoolka is set to join the saffron party in New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon, ending a seven-year hiatus from active politics.

BJP sources said Phoolka is expected to formally join the party at 1pm at the BJP headquarters. The induction will take place in the presence of senior leadership, including Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar, working president Ashwani Sharma, and Union minister of state Ravneet Singh Bittu.

Phoolka, a distinguished lawyer in the Supreme Court and Delhi high court, led the fight for justice for the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
