Kolkata, May 13 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday took over the probe into the May 6 murder of Chandranath Rath, aide to West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari, a police officer familiar with the matter said. "A seven-member CBI team headed by a Delhi-based deputy inspector general arrived in Kolkata and visited the crime scene. The other members of the team are from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh," a West Bengal police officer said, requesting anonymity. A team of forensic experts accompanied the CBI officers, he added. The development comes 48 hours after a special investigation team (SIT) of the state police nabbed three men from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on Sunday as prime suspects in the murder.
