Bengaluru woman held for setting lover on fire on pretext of proposal
Bengaluru, April 22 -- A 27-year-old woman was taken into custody on Tuesday for allegedly killing her boyfriend by setting him afire after tying him to a chair and blindfolding him on the pretext of a "foreign-style proposal", in Bengaluru, police said.
According to police, the incident took place in the city's Byadarahalli area at around 2 pm. The victim, Kiran (27), had been in a relationship with the accused, Prerana, for nearly a year. Both were employed at a telecom company.
Police said that Prerana allegedly blindfolded Kiran and tied his hands and legs to a chair. "When he questioned why she was tying him so tightly, she told him 'This is a foreign-style proposal, just stay quiet,'" deputy commissioner of police DL Nagesh said.
