Bengal to table new bills on 'anti-social activity', Uniform Civil Code next week: Explained
India, June 27 -- The Suvendu Adhikari-led BJP government in West Bengal is all set to introduce two bills next week that dramatically widen the scope of "anti-social activity", including provisions for preventive detention for up to 12 months without trial. It also plans to introduce the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill next week.
Besides these two controversial bills, Adhikari said on Friday that the government would also bring in strict legislation against "love jihad", "land jihad" and forced religious conversion.
