India, Aug. 13 -- Auqib Nabi admitted that he had some expectations as he was called up as Jasprit Bumrah's replacement for India's upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. Nabi was not part of the original squad, but Bumrah's injury opened the door for the Jammu and Kashmir pacer to earn his maiden senior call-up. He enjoyed a breakthrough 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, claiming 60 wickets to play a key role in helping Jammu and Kashmir win their maiden title. Nabi also impressed during India A's tour of Sri Lanka in June-July, taking six wickets across two first-class matches. His selection also marks a historic moment, as Nabi has become the first cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to receive a call-up to India's senior Test team.
