LUCKNOW, Sept. 4 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has directed the Uttar Pradesh Police's Intelligence department to conduct a discreet inquiry into the antecedents of advocates against whom allegations were made in connection with the July 21 incident at the Lucknow district court.

A division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manjive Shukla, on Wednesday, modified its July 28 order after deputy solicitor general SB Pandey, appearing for the Centre, informed the court that the intelligence bureau (IB) could not conduct the inquiry as the nature and scope of its work were different.
