Anti-hail guns halted in 2 Shimla villages
Shimla, Oct. 6 -- The Himachal Pradesh high court has ordered the state government to stop using "anti-hail guns", a device that stops hail from forming in storm clouds, in two villages in Shimla district for a year, citing concerns that the machines may be ineffective and just displace the rain clouds.
The directions by the division bench, comprising chief justice GS Sandhawalia and justice Bipin C Negi, came after the State informed the court that a study was underway to ascertain the efficacy of the two devices, installed in Deorighat and Bareonghat villages.
