Allegations against wife based on false info: Himanta; Cong moves EC
GUWAHATI, April 7 -- Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday claimed that the Congress used false information from a Pakistani social media group to level allegations that his wife has passports of three countries and owns properties in Dubai and a company in the US.
Meanwhile, the Congress filed a complaint with the Election Commission, demanding the cancellation of Sarma's candidature from Jalukbari seat for the April 9 polls, contending that he did not mention his wife's alleged offshore assets in the poll affidavit.
The developments come a day after Congress leaders Pawan Khera and Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi alleged that Sarma's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, has passports of the UAE, Egypt and Antigua and Barbuda and own...
