India, Sept. 29 -- Air traffic controllers (ATCOs) have raised concerns over the large situation-data displays, trials of which are being conducted at Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai airport under the new INDRA air traffic management (ATM) automation system, citing physical discomfort during prolonged use.

"The system is currently undergoing shadow operations and testing before final commissioning. Controllers have reported difficulties with the displays under actual operational conditions," an official requesting anonymity said.

The ATCO guild has also written to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) senior management.
