Ahmedabad, Sept. 20 -- The Ahmedabad crime branch arrested a 54-year-old man in Ahmedabad on Sunday who had allegedly been absconding for 24 years in connection with a 2002 murder case registered at Sadri police station in Rajasthan's Pali district, police said.

The accused, identified as Dineshbhai Amthabhai Arjanbhai Desai, was wanted in connection with a case registered under various sections, including section 302 (murder), section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Police said Desai had been concealing his identity, working as a daily-wage labourer and moving between different locations during the past 24 years.
