India, April 1 -- Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) crossed the landmark milestone of 500 million tonnes of cargo handled, the firm announced on Wednesday.

With this, APSEZ - which is India's largest integrated transport utility and among the nation's leading port developers and operators - also highlighted its goal of reaching 1 billion tonnes of cargo handling by 2030.

Speaking on the milestone, Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group, said ports are "not merely gateways for trade, they are gateways to national confidence, competitiveness and destiny." In a statement, the firm said it was a "defining moment" which showcased India's "infrastructure-led transformation."
