Abishek Porel case: HC hearing deferred to September 14 as state seeks time, co-accused friend yet to be arrested
India, Aug. 12 -- The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday adjourned until September 14 the hearing of a petition filed by a woman accusing Bengal cricketer Abishek Porel of having sexual relations with her on the promise of marriage, after the West Bengal government sought more time to take the investigation forward following his arrest.
Porel was arrested on Monday night in connection with the complaint filed by the medical student.
A report was placed before the bench of Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya, following which the state sought an adjournment to allow the police to proceed with the investigation following the cricketer's arrest.
