Silchar, June 17 -- Police have detained three boys, aged between 13 and 14, for allegedly raping and murdering a nine-year-old girl in Barpeta district, officers aware of the matter said on Tuesday. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Barpeta, Pushkin Jain, said the incident took place in the Baghbar police station limits on Monday, when the victim was returning from school. "When the girl did not return home till evening on Monday, the family informed police and the body was recovered from a nearby field by a police team later in the night.
