India, Aug. 12 -- A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped in front of her brother while the two were returning from school in Bhind district on Tuesday, police said.

According to police, the accused, identified as Arvind Valmiki (24). He also thrashed the brother of the victim.

"The accused Valmiki stopped the siblings on their way home and offered to drop them on his motorcycle. He first took them towards fields near a canal but, upon spotting herders, diverted them to a spot behind the school. There, he allegedly raped the girl. When her 11-year-old brother tried to intervene, Valmiki assaulted him," said Ravindra Sharma in-charge of Mehgaon police station.
