898 BEST drivers face action for rash driving, with 789 from wet-lease fleet
India, Sept. 17 -- BEST has taken disciplinary action against 898 drivers for rash and negligent driving between January 2025 and May 2026, with 789 of those drivers operating buses under its wet-lease model, according to data shared by the public transport undertaking.
The action comes at a time when wet-lease buses, which account for more than 90% of BEST's 2,850-bus fleet, have been under the spotlight following a series of accidents. Between January and May this year, 249 accidents involving wet-lease buses left 10 people dead and 46 injured, according to BEST data.
