Kolkata, March 27 -- Clashes broke out between workers of the TMC and BJP during an election campaign in the Basanti assembly constituency of West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, police said on Thursday. Seven police personnel were injured in the ensuing clash. Officials familiar with the matter said the incident took place around 1 pm in the Basanti Bazar area. Police said supporters of the two parties clashed with sticks and brickbats during a campaign by BJP candidate from Basanti, Bikash Sardar, for the assembly polls to be held in the constituency on April 29, the second and final phase.
