Dehradun, Aug. 14 -- Seven workers were killed and 14 others injured late on Thursday after a landslide and heavy water seepage triggered a partial collapse inside an under-construction Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited's project site in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district. One worker remains trapped inside the tunnel. According to State Emergency Operations Centre officials, the incident took place around 7 pm at the tunnel, constructed by the Hindustan Construction Company in Pipalkoti. "Water, accompanied by a landslide, suddenly began seeping into the tunnel, trapping 22 workers," said an official. A large-scale multi-agency rescue operation was launched immediately.
