Karnal, Aug. 19 -- Two days after an elderly woman was allegedly raped at Panipat civil hospital, the victim died during treatment at Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak on Tuesday, police said.

According to the police, the prime accused Rakesh Kumar, who works as a security guard at the hospital's CT and MRI section, run by a private firm, has been arrested.

The 58-year-old woman was referred to PGIMS on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday due to her critical condition, officials said. Panipat civil surgeon Dr Vijay Malik confirmed her death early Tuesday morning.
