However, as women grow old, take our mothers, aunts and grandmothers, for instance, they tend to put their health on the back burner. But that should never be the case, and Naheed Divecha, a 54-year-old second-degree black belt, a national champion, and a four-time India representative, is proving the same.

Women begin to lose approximately 3% to 8% of their muscle mass every decade starting around age 30, a progressive condition known as sarcopenia, according to a report published by UCLA Health. Therefore, it is important for them to stay active and maintain those muscles for a healthy, sustainable and independent life later in age.
