India, Sept. 7 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has suspended five officials from its South Zone with immediate effect, in response to the building collapse in Satya Niketan, which has killed at least seven people.

Based on the orders issued on Monday, the five officials suspended have been identified as -

A building in a congested colony in Delhi's Satya Niketan area collapsed on Sunday afternoon. As per officials, ongoing construction in the basement of the boys' paying guest accommodation resulted in structural damage to the building, ultimately causing its collapse.

The search and rescue operation for missing people, primarily students, has now entered its second day.
