BETTIAH, Aug. 23 -- Five people died and five others were injured after a speeding bus ran over a crowd attending a cultural programme in Bihar's West Champaran district, police said on Saturday. Lauriya station house officer (SHO) Inderjeet Paswan said the incident occurred around 11pm on Friday when villagers had gathered to watch the programme marking the sixth day after the birth of a child at Bankatwa Parautola area. "The crowd spilled onto the road while watching the orchestra programme. Suddenly, a speeding bus lost control while trying to avoid a collision with a truck and ploughed into the crowd.
