MEERUT, Oct. 11 -- Four pilgrims were killed and over 15 injured after a canter truck laden with utensils rammed a group returning on foot from the Shakambari Devi shrine in Saharanpur district's Deoband in Uttar Pradesh early on Saturday, police said.
The deceased were identified as Ramesh Kumar (40), Sagar (34), Aman Kumar (23) and Satendra (30)- all residents of Kushawali village in Meerut district's Sardhana. The incident took place when the group had stopped to rest on a flyover.
Those injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, with two in reportedly critical condition.
