Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 24 -- Four head-load workers died and two others were injured on Monday when the concrete slab of a decrepit godown collapsed in the Valiyangadi market, police said. The deceased were identified as Jabbar, Ashraf, Basheer, who died soon after they were rushed to the hospital, while Vinod died in the hospital later in the day. The concrete slab collapsed at a time when the workers were taking rest under it. Though the workers were ferried to the nearby hospital, the doctors declared them dead on arrival. The portion of the building that collapsed on Monday was built in 1977 and had been reportedly declared as unfit for use. Earlier. it used to house the passport office.
