RANCHI, Aug. 14 -- A Ranchi court has sentenced a 30-year-old man to death for the brutal sexual assault and murder of a seven-year-old girl in 2020.
The court on Wednesday held that the extreme gravity and heinous nature of the crime against a minor child warranted the highest punishment under the law and awarded the accused the death sentence for offences under section 302 (murder) of the IPC and Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act
Judge Birendra Kumar Srivastava, in his order, had given importance to forensic DNA evidence over conflicting oral testimonies.raj kumar
