Ghaziabad, Sept. 22 -- It took over three years to preparefor the all-women Tri-Services group to prepare for its circumnavigation expedition, said Lieutenant Colonel Anuja Varudkar of the Indian Army's Corps of Engineers.

Sharing her experience with HT, Lt Col Varudkar, who led the expedition, said, "The preparation for it commenced much before the actual expedition. For four years, including the expedition period, we all worked towards it. About three years before the expedition started, 42 officers (from services) voluntarily came for the trials."

Varudkar was back home till Sunday to spend some time with family in Ghaziabad. She has a 12-year-old daughter and a nine-year-old son.
