Kolkata, July 7 -- Police on Monday arrested three people and detained three others for questioning in connection with the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in West Bengal's Baruipur, even as prohibitory orders preventing large gatherings were imposed in parts of the Kolkata suburb. A man was allegedly lynched on Sunday on suspicion of being involved in the incident that sparked outrage. "We have arrested three people, including the prime accused. Three more were being questioned. A six-member SIT has been set up. Four FIRs have been registered, including one related to the alleged rape and murder of the girl and the lynching of a man.
