India, July 24 -- Cyber security incidents affecting government and financial institutions more than doubled in a span of two years, rising from 11.46 lakh incidents in 2023 to 24.38 lakh in 2025, data shared by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in Parliament on Friday.

According to the data tracked by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the ministry reported that 11.46 lakh incidents were observed in 2023 which increased to 18.73 lakh in 2024. By 2025, the number of incidents recorded rose to 24.28 lakh.
