India, June 6 -- The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday demolished 234 residential and commercial structures at Amar Nagar-Khindipada in Mulund, intensifying efforts to clear land for the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project before the monsoon sets in.

The 12.2-km GMLR corridor is being developed to provide a direct east-west connection between Goregaon and Mulund through flyovers and twin tunnels beneath the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Civic officials say the project will cut travel time and reduce pressure on existing road networks.
