Kolkata, Oct. 14 -- A man and his elder-sister died, while his wife was injured after an electric-rickshaw, they were travelling in, was hit by an SUV belonging to Sukumar Mahata, former MLA of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday, police said.

Mahata was not present in the SUV when the accident took place, police said, adding that the driver fled after the incident.

"Two persons Mujibar Rahaman, 47 and his elder-sister Mahima Bibi, 50 were killed in the accident. Rahaman's wife was seriously injured and was referred to a hospital in Kolkata. The SUV's driver is absconding," said an officer.
