2 held in assam for illegally collecting data
Silchar, May 15 -- Two people from Mizoram have been arrested in Assam's Cachar district for allegedly collecting facial and biometric data of local residents in the name of an American multinational company without proper authorisation, officials said on Thursday.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Cachar district, Rajat Pal, said the two were arrested on Wednesday after they allegedly organised camps for collecting facial recognition and other biometric data of local unemployed youths at a marriage hall in Silchar town earlier this week.
"They collected biometric data from more than 200 youths by offering them Rs.200 without proper authorisation or documentation. Hence, we detained them and subsequently arrested them," Pal said....
