India, Aug. 12 -- Two people have died, while several others are feared trapped under the debris after a landslide in Mumbai's Kurla area in wee hours of Wednesday following heavy rain, officials said.

Police said the rescue operation are underway with personnel from BMC, NDRF and other agencies deployed at the spot. The incident took place at around 3 am, DCP Ganesh Shinde said.

"Due to the rain, a landslide has occurred in the Ashoknagar area under the jurisdiction of the Ghatkopar police. Two bodies have been recovered so far, and rescue operation is underway.
