KANPUR, Aug. 13 -- : A 19-year-old man allegedly stole jewellery from a house in Kanpur's Jajmau area to arrange money for his elder sister's wedding, police said. He was arrested within 48 hours of the theft.

Zafar, a resident of Tadbagia, was arrested from his rented room around 1.30am on Wednesday, said ADCP Shiva Singh. Police recovered the entire stolen haul from him. It included four rings, a pair of earrings, a pair of jhumkas, a broken chain, four bangles, white-metal coins bearing Rs.20 and Rs.1 denominations and a white-metal anklet bell.
